A smart city is an urban area that uses different types of electronic data collection sensors to supply information which is used to manage assets and resources efficiently (Source: Wikipedia). 

A lot of data needs to be collected and structured for smart cities. This is only possible with a technology providing higher speed and larger capacity compared with the previous technologies. For this purpose, there is a need of 5G or something new even after 5G (Source: www.researchgate.net). 5G networks needs high capacity fiber broadband infrastructure.
